Prospective Parliamentary Candidate
With the Liberal Democrats promising major improvements to public transport, Chris Bowers has been out campaigning at train stations during the campaign.
Last week, he was out at Crowborough and Uckfield stations letting commuters know how committed he is to efforts to reopen the Lewes-Uckfield line and improve links from the south coast to London through the Wealden constituency and western Kent. This week he has been at Polegate, a station in the Lewes constituency but one that is used by many commuters from southern Wealden, and he'll be at Wadhurst, helping the campaign to retain the service from there to Cannon Street that's threatened with closure.
Chris has worked closely with Norman Baker, MP for Lewes and the Lib Dems' shadow transport minister, who has worked out an exciting plan for reopening a collection of viable rail routes that are currently closed. The list includes Lewes-Uckfield.
