Chris Bowers ... the next MP for Wealden!
Wealden is a constituency that needs to be put on the map. A rural area between London and the big towns of the south coast, it can so easily get overlooked, but a dynamic Liberal Democrat MP can make Wealden stand out in the news, the way Norman Baker has done for neighbouring Lewes since he was elected as LibDem MP in 1997. Chris Bowers is the man who can make the country take note of Wealden, and bring a better deal to Hailsham, Crowborough, Uckfield, Wadhurst and the several dozen villages that make up the character of this very special part of England.

'Disappointed' Bowers increases Lib Dem vote
A disappointed Chris Bowers was able to increase the Lib Dems' vote in Wealden but not prevent sitting MP Charles Hendry from retaining the seat with an increased majority. Full result and comparison with 2005.
The Real fight against landraise
Chris Bowers was the only political representative at a walk organised by the Residents of East Sussex Against Landraise up Mount Caburn. Braving constant drizzle, Chris took part in the 90-minute walk aimed at showing where some of the 'areas of search' for the county council's landraise proposals will lead to new mounds of waste.
Local artist paints her own Lib Dem poster
Posters for Chris Bowers and the Liberal Democrats are all over Wealden, but there's a special one in Wadhurst High Street. It's an original painting by local artist Val Brinton, who wanted to show her support for Chris's campaign with a more original poster.
Getting the public transport message to rail commuters
With the Liberal Democrats promising major improvements to public transport, Chris Bowers has been out campaigning at train stations during the campaign. And he has joined forces with Norman Baker (pictured here at Polegate station) to press for the reopening of the Lewes-Uckfield line and other viable lines currently closed.
